Arsenal are facing a big summer. They will continue with the clear out project in order for them to overhaul the squad properly. A lot of players have uncertain futures with contracts ending in the next two years, while some want more game time. On the other hand Edu and Arteta will be focused on new recruitment to give the fans hope of doing a much better job next season. There will be a lot of in and out activities this summer. We will discuss the possible departures below:

David Luiz

Reports coming out this week confirmed that Luiz will be leaving Arsenal at the end of the season. Arsenal still have Holding and Chambers contracted to the club and host of youngsters such Mavropanos, Saliba, Omar Rekik, Ballard, Clarke and McGuinness ready to step into the first team should they fail to find a suitable replacement.

Willian

Willian is contracted to Arsenal until 2023 but after a poor first season he could be out of the door immediately. He had a poor season and Arsenal will not regret terminating his contract. Rumors coming out this week also suggest that he could be leaving the club.

Kolasinac

Kolasinac’s contract is ending in 2022 there’s no reason to extend it or to risk him running it down. He’s definitely one of the first names on Arsenal’s shopping list this summer. He has done nothing on loan to give Arsenal hope of keeping him.

Lacazette

Lacazette is out of contract at the end of the coming season. Arsenal have promised to not allow players to enter the final year of their contract. Unless Arsenal give him a new contract, Lacazette could be one of the players sold in the summer. But his decision will be a big one to make and it will be tied to what Arsenal can do in the summer. If they fail to find a suitable replacement he could be handed a 2 year contract to keep him at the club until 2024. He’s likely to stay.

Bellerin

The Spaniard has probably played his final season for Arsenal. He has found himself playing behind Cedric and Chambers since January. The lack of game time suggest that he’s not the right profile for the right back Arteta is looking for. Its very likely that Arsenal will sell Bellerin in summer.

Xhaka

Although it has been reported that Xhaka could be one of the players leaving Arsenal in the summer, it could all depend on what Arsenal does in the transfer market. He’s currently the second best midfielder at the club and will need to be replaced if he leaves. He has a contract until 2023 and could stay for one more season if a suitable replacement can’t be found.

Maitland-Niles

The England international is enjoying his half season loan at West Brom. With a contract running until 2023, Arsenal have to make a big decision on his future this summer. Its quite clear from him that he wants to play in midfield but Arsenal never want to give him the chance to play there. The signing of Guendouzi, Torreira, Ceballos and the emergence of Willock and Smith Rowe gave Maitland-Niles more believe that he will not play in his favorite position at Arsenal. If the right bid is made Arsenal wont regret partying ways with Ainsley.

Nketiah

Nketiah was given a lot of trust and minutes by Arteta last season but he failed to repay the faith. He’s fallen down the packing order this season making only 17 appearances in the Premier League. With his contract ending at the end of next season Arsenal will have to make a decision on him this summer. Its either they extend and send him on loan or they sell to the highest bidder.

Dani Ceballos

This is the player we brought in to replace Ramsey and he has never lived up to it. Apart from the great run of form towards the end of last season and winning the FA Cup, he has a good game here and a good game there. We simply cant rely on such a player. He’s going back to Madrid next season.

Elneny

Elneny is out of contract at the end of next season. He’s not a bad player to have for rotation but if there’s a chance for us to upgrade I don’t see Arsenal offering him a new deal. The squad player position he’s taking up could be valuable to youngsters such as Willock, Guendouzi, Olayinka and Azeez.

Willock

Arsenal are in a rebuilding process and are also having a lot of youngsters with potential that need minutes. Willock is one of them who could leave on loan next season. With a contract running until 2023, the smart thing to do is extend him and send him out for regular minutes at another Premier League club.

Nelson

Nelson could also leave the club in search of regular first team minutes next season. He’s a player Arsenal are not yet certain about but a loan move for a season could change everything. He has 2 more years left on his contract.

Guendouzi

Guedouzi divides opinions but I do believe that he can make it at Arsenal. I want Arsenal to keep him at the club next season. With a contract running until 2023, we could use that season to asses him and decide his future after that. I don’t think he will accept another loan, if he’s not coming back I see Arsenal selling him.

Torreira

Lucas Torreira will definitely be leaving Arsenal in the summer. I don’t see Arteta reintegrating him into the squad next season. His loan spell at Atletico was not successful even tough he will leave them with a Laliga winners medal.

Mavropanos

Since signing for Arsenal in 2018, Mavropanos only made 8 appearances for the club in all competitions. He spend the last two seasons on loan in Germany, and has managed to establish himself as a serious talent in the Bundesliga. He’s one of the players tipped to replace the out of contract Luiz next season. But if Arteta doesn’t favor him he could be sold considering that we already have Saliba, Chambers and Holding.

Cedric Soares

Cedric was brought to the club by Arteta last season. However, he found himself playing second to Bellerin. When he eventually took the position he was displaced by Chambers who’s a center back by trade. He only has 10 league appearance for Arsenal this season. Whether Arteta trust him will be seen this window but at 29 he would want to play more.

Leno

Early last week it was reported that Leno wants to leave the club. But those rumours were corrected by Leno himself this week saying that he still want to be at the club. He has a contract until 2023 and didn’t have a good season. Anything is possible at this moment.

Runarsson

Runarsson has fallen down the packing order. It didn’t work out as planned, he don’t seem to be at the level Arsenal expected him to be. Arsenal will be in the market to sign at least 2 goalkeepers this summer; a number two to replace Runarrson and number one to replace the want away Bernd Leno.
